Lagos SISTEMA is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to music-driven social development for children and youth from low-income backgrounds

This initiative professionalizes and elevates music education standards in Nigeria while leveraging music as a tool for social good, creative discipline, leadership, and cognitive development. The curriculum balances Western classical traditions with Nigerian contemporary and traditional music (e.g., Afrobeat and Classical music), emphasising African musical forms so students can feed talent back into local and global music industries.

Inspired by Success

The Lagos SISTEMA model takes inspiration from global social-music programs like El Sistema, Tunisia 88, Orkidstra, adapting the approach to Nigeria’s vibrant ecosystem. We combine holistic curricular methods and community-based training to empower students with marketable skills.

Why Lagos SISTEMA?

Nigeria plays a pivotal role in Africa’s music and entertainment landscape. Lagos SISTEMA will create structured pathways for talent development, discipline through ensemble work, and community impact by targeting underserved youth. The program’s long-term goal is sustainable cultural and economic development through music education.
